The works for "FALTSACHEN. DIE GROSSEN PAPIERE are created by using simple forms of handling. Out of a series of large-format folded pieces some will be unfolded and re-integrated as part of a new, discrete work. For the PALERMO Gallery they are formulated in relation to the site. Issues of visibility, showing and hiding, material economy as well as minimalism are explored.

Heidemarie von Wedel is working  with images on images. They act like interrelated elements. The folds are visible, the materiality of paper tangible. They are shown to the viewer in an immediate visual presence. In this way, they irritate any certainties or expectations about photographic images beyond the visual surface. They may  evoke a feeling that responds to a current world experience of fragility, insecurity or destabilisation.
